Banner HIPAA Training Accepted at COM-T

Dear Faculty and Staff, 

The College of Medicine IT department is excited to announce that we are now accepting Banner Health’s HIPAA training. If you already met the annual HIPAA requirements from Banner you are no longer required to take the University of Arizona’s HIPAA training. No action is needed from you as COM IT will help you transfer your Banner HIPAA training certification data to the University and update your Edge Learning account in the background. 

We have prepared some anticipated questions: 

• What does this mean to me?
  • You no longer need to take the University of Arizona’s HIPAA training.
• Do I still have to take the training? 
  • Only once, on the Banner Health side.  
• How will you know that training is complete? 
  • Banner Health will provide our team with this information. 
• What about the reminders from UArizona’s Training System? 
  • Bear with us while these items are finalized. Initially, we are handling these exemptions manually for the time being with plans for automation in the near future. 
• I would like more information, where can I reach out?
