Missing Emails - Here are some suggestions

Nov. 13, 2020

Dear College of Medicine Students-

We have received reports that some important emails are landing in your CatMail’s spam folder. To prevent legitimate emails from being sent to your spam/junk email folder, be sure to actively monitor this folder and implement the following recommendations:

  1. Add internal email domains to your Safe Senders List (@email.arizona.edu, @medadmin.arizona.edu, @arizona.edu, @list.arizona.edu)
  2. Do not forward your CatMail to your personal email accounts (e.g. gmail.com, hotmail.com, etc.)

Here are some instructions to get you started:

Outlook Users

  • Open the email from the sender you would like to add to the Safe Senders List.
  • Click on the "Junk" link next to the delete button in the top left corner.
  • Click on “Never Block Sender" in the drop-down options below the ‘Junk’ icon.
  • Their email message will be automatically added to your Outlook safe senders list.

Apple Mail

  • Open the email from the sender you would like to add to the Safe Senders List.
  • Click on the sender’s email address at the top of the email
  • A list of options will appear on a drop-down
  • Click on “Add to Address Book”
  • Your sender will be automatically added to your Apple Mail safe senders list.

One of the many security features of the University of Arizona’s email system is the robust anti-spam and anti-junk email features. These features help reduce the amount of junk mail that appears in your inbox.  It is important to understand that malicious emails can still come through and not all emails should be considered safe. If you are not expecting an email be cautious of it.

To increase our security awareness please review the following documents:
