Central IT is updating security on the wired network (Ethernet connection to a wall jack) beginning September 16, 2020 and continue until the Thanksgiving weekend. When the building you are in is updated, all computers and devices that plug into a physical network port that is not managed by COM ITS must be configured with this new security policy or you will NOT be able to access the University network. This only affects computers that are physically located on campus.
What COM ITS knows from Central IT (UITS):
- UITS is still finalizing the schedule of when each building will be updated.
- UITS is currently working out the details for configuring the various devices (i.e. computers, printers, AV equipment, microscopes, etc.).
- Re-configuration may be necessary prior to your building’s scheduled update, in order to mitigate the impact of the possible network interruption.
How COM ITS can help you:
- If your device is not managed by COM ITS or connected to the internet through a switch/router, use this form, https://medicineit.arizona.edu/wired-network-registration-information-form, to let us know so we can schedule a possible assessment. These devices may include:
- if you do not logon with MEDADMIN or NetID credentials
- if you have an Apple device running MacOS or a device running a LINUX OS
- other stand-alone devices
If you have any questions or concerns related to this project, please send us an email at COMITNetworkProject@list.arizona.edu(link sends e-mail)
Please look for a follow-up email from us after your building is scheduled providing more information regarding this project. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support of this important project, initiated and required by the University's CIO Office. Let’s work together to create a more secure computing environment for the campus.
Thank you,
